Ferrari 430 Scuderia news - Frankfurt show: Ferrari 430 Scuderia
It's the one you've been waiting for: the new lightweight, higher-powered F430 that we latched on to a couple of months ago and scribbled right at the top of our 'Cool Stuff in Frankfurt' whiteboard.
The Ferrari 430 Scuderia. It's 100 kilograms lighter, has eight per cent more power - up to 510bhp from 483bhp - and features a new gearshift called 'F1 Superfast', which promises to be both super and, erm, fast.
It's a car that spells business from the reprofiled front end to the rear diffuser. The air intakes and repositioned exhausts make the 430 Scuderia look quick on the show stand.
Although we're generally suspicious of racing stripes, we'll concede they do a job here, while the interior is a proper overdose of Alcantara and carbon fibre. The best sort of overdose, that is.
The only black mark against the 430 Scuderia is that, next to the classic Rosso Corsa red one, there's a twee, metallic, almost-baby-blue one. Questionable on a road car, but on a show car a definite no, surely?
But, as we say, that's our only gripe. And, frankly, when you're out on the track, hitting 60mph in under four seconds and knocking on the door of 200mph, we're guessing you won't be worrying too much about the colour.
