Is this Eric Clapton's one-off Ferrari?
As one of Eric Clapton's contemporaries once sang, money can't buy you love. But it appears it might buy you a one-off homage to the Ferrari 512 BB.
Said to be commissioned by Slowhand himself, this flat-12 Boxer tribute - seen at the HR Owen showroom in London last night - is a re-bodied V8-engined 458 Italia injected with the styling DNA of a 12-cylinder Ferrari 512 BB of the 70s. These include a classic two-tone paint scheme, horizontal slats on front boot lid, flying buttress over the rear quarter panel and matt black "carb covers" on the engine bay.
The car is the work of Ferrari Special Projects who - famously - can help build you the Ferrari of your dreams. Their previous work includes the equally wondrous P540 Superfast Aperta and Superamerica 45.
So dotcommers, if you potentially wrote a song about someone called Layla and made lots of money, what would you ask Ferrari Special Projects to build for you?
