Castrol oil - a bit of an edge
WHAT IS AN ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE?
Aside from the peerless Bugatti Veyron, Lord Pembroke's enviable car collection includes a beautiful example of the fearsome Ferrari 288 GTO, an immaculate 1966 Jaguar E-Type Roadster and... a 2001 Nissan Skyline GT-R.
Yes, that one. The car that has become the weapon of choice of drift kings from Tokyo to Tamworth. And it gets better: the Nissan is his favourite of the eight cars that the Lord owns.
Not what you expected of a man who lives in a house built on land given to his family by Henry VIII? Maybe not, but it is a perfect example of what makes the 18th Earl of Pembroke a little different from his (hereditary) peers.
Lord Pembroke is an out-and-out petrolhead, and while collecting cars is by no means an unusual way for a well heeled, car-conscious young man to expend his wealth, Will (as he is quite happy to be known) has actually put his money where his mouth is.
Or his home, to be exact. Each Summer, Lord Pembroke throws open the gates of the family seat – Wilton House – to host the Wilton Classic & Supercar Event (WCS) and, in the spirit of a glorious family garden party with hundreds of classic and supercars spread across the lawn, he puts it all together with a minimum of staff and even less fuss. It is this authentic understanding of what turns real car enthusiasts on that attracted Castrol to become involved with Pembroke’s event.
“Attaching Castrol EDGE with Titanium FST to WCS makes perfect sense,” explains Parmy Fellows, UK Marketing Manager for Castrol. “This is a premium performance oil that is designed for use in many of the supercars that feature at the event but is also the right oil for the car that most of us drive every day. Lord Pembroke understands this, and the event’s 15,000 visitors understand this.”
For 2015, Castrol are introducing a new feature to WCS – the Power Paddock. “Castrol appreciate the inherent values of the event and they fit well with their own objectives,’ agrees Will. “The Power Paddock will provide a genuine opportunity to meet the team behind the technology from Castrol and see the strength story come to life.”

WIN A DAY OUT AT THE WILTON CLASSIC & SUPERCAR EVENT
2015 marks the seventh year of Lord Pembroke’s unique motoring celebration at his family home in Wiltshire and, for the first time, it will be held over two days.
The show’s success has driven the decision to expand across a full weekend, with the Saturday becoming a festival for all things Classic, the Sunday dedicated to a mouthwatering line-up of supercars. This year’s theme is Great Rivals and across the two days, visitors will enjoy displays of cars that became famous for their head-to-head race or road battles.
Rumour has it that the McLaren MP4/5B and Ferrari 641 that both ended up in a Suzuka gravel trap on lap one of the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix are set to star. And as we all know, Ayrton Senna vs Alain Prost is one of the all-time great rivalries.
To win an exclusive VIP day out at Wilton Classic and Supercar Event, courtesy of Castrol – including premium tickets, West Lawn parking and afternoon tea in the driver’s enclosure – visit www.topgear.com/feeltheedge. Minimum age 21. Please visit the website for full terms and conditions.
