1,000mph* SSC jet car hits London

Published: 21 Oct 2010

That beast you see above, that's a replica of the car that will hit 1,000mph. No, not the minicab, the big pointy thing.

Richard Noble, the brains behind the Bloodhound Project, decided to build a replica of the SSC, bring it down to London and scare the minstrels out of Sunday afternoon crowds.

This seems to have largely worked. The SSC, which made its debut earlier this year, is planned for a 2012 speed run in South Africa. A speed run which will potentially see this thing top 1,000mph. And melt time.

Speed isn't the only thing though. Noble wants to get kids into maths and science, and so wants the SSC to be a focal point for study. And when edumacation looks like a bullet car, it's time to learn.

The SSC will be showcased at Coutts Bank until 30th October, so get down to Le Capital to see the replica. Or just click on our pictures. The latter is easier.
