Subaru Impreza WRX news - Scooby through - 2008
Like an ageing tennis star coming out of retirement for one final bow, the Subaru Impreza has emerged from the changing rooms for the last time before calling it a day.
With an all-new Impreza on its way this autumn - in hatchback guise, no less - it's time for a final stick-all-the-kit-we've-got-left-over special edition to finish things off for the second-gen chav favourite.
Called the GB270, it's a specced-up version of the 2.5-litre WRX, and it's limited to 300 saloons and 100 Sports Wagons.
It gets Prodrive's performance package, which boosts power to 266bhp and torque to 310lb ft. That means the GB270 will hit 60mph in 5.3 seconds, with Subaru promising improved mid-range responsiveness, too.
Naturally, there's plenty of kit on board, including a MOMO shifter, fat 18-inch alloys and plenty of badging.
With the GB270 weighing in at just under 23 grand, Subaru reckons that's some £5,000-worth of extras thrown in free of charge.
And what's more, we're not likely to see a hotter new Impreza until the turbocharged STI arrives next spring. Just in time for the new tennis season, then.
