Students have used actual science to create Santa’s sleigh

Current sleigh is massively inefficient, apparently. Here’s a better one

Engineering students at the University of Central Lancashire have concluded that Santa’s sleigh could be faster. It is, to use McLaren parlance, ‘sub optimal’.

In the process of designing a fuel-efficient car for next year’s Shell Eco-marathon, they discovered that Santa’s ride is quite inefficient. It could, they say, cut his journey time by three whole, non fictional hours.

So, using actual science, they designed something sleeker, more aerodynamic, with less drag and a carbon fibre body with aluminium runners. Even the reindeers get an easier ride.
