Brand new Top Gear magazine: out now!

Published: 27 Feb 2014

In the new issue of Top Gear magazine, we welcome two turbocharged monsters – the McLaren 650s (faster than a 12C, looks like the P1, isn't either...) and the Ferrari California T (the first car from Maranello since the F40 to sport a turbo) - and host a no-holds-barred Europe vs America showdown. It's like the Ryder Cup without the silly trousers.

First, though, that McLaren. So you've seen the first pics of 650S online, but doubtless you're still a little confused. After all, McLaren says the 642bhp supercar isn't the replacement for the 12C, but others might beg to differ. To clear everything up, we've got closer to the 650S than anyone else on the planet.

Meanwhile in Maranello, the Ferrari California T follows in the turbocharged footsteps of the 208 GTS, 288 GTO and F40. We find out whether a blown Ferrari can now be deemed a proper Ferrari.

For our Europe vs America face-off, we start with by pitting the Porsche 911 against the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, two cars that have represented the automotive blueprint of their respective continents for many years. But while Americans have been buying 911s for years, it's only now that the Corvette is coming to Europe. Can it compete?

Then it's over to Silicon Valley to pit the new Maserati Ghibli against Silicon Valley's Tesla Model S - with surprising results. Prepare for an electric shock.

In the race for the land speed record, we're entering a golden era. We see how the American Eagle and Bloodhound SSC are getting on in their race to break 1000mph (with both keeping an eye on some competition from Down Under….).

And finally we take two hardcore sports cars, the insane Jaguar XKR-S GT and SRT Viper Time Attack, for a road and track showdown in LA, attracting some interest from the police along the way.

In this month's news, we take a look at the brilliantly soothing Citroen C4 Cactus, investigate the point of concepts, check out some fiery Frenchies with the Renault Twingo and Peugeot 108, get ready for the launch of the new Formula One season and WRC legend Kris Meeke takes our Driving Test.

Plus, as always, all the latest new cars that matter, including the BMW 435i Convertible, VW Golf R, Seat Leon Cupra and Ford Focus Edge Econetic.

All of this, plus the latest news and reviews and, of course, the usual thoughts/ramblings from Clarkson, Hammond and May.
