Video: behind-the-scenes on Top Gear’s Speed Week

Lots of drifting occurred. Some tyre smoke happened. There was a bit of spinning. And a camera drone decided to take on the Stig.

Just another day for Top Gear magazine, then. Except this day was a bit special, because for this year’s Performanace Car of the Year test, we mixed up a fantasy fleet of the world's finest cars, mixed it with Europe's scariest circuit and added a healthy dollop of Stig.

Of course, despite the spinning, and Stig's battle with the camera drone, we did actually manage to do some proper testing. It wasn't an an empirical, objective test judged by stopwatches and the like. Because only on our annual Speed Week adventure will you find an £18k Ford Fiesta ST stacked up against a £294,665 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster.

Count em': the BMW M135i, the Ford Fiesta ST, Audi RS6, Maserati GranTurismo, McLaren 12C Spider, Jaguar F-Type, Porsche Cayman, Mercedes A45 AMG, Mini GP, Lamborghini Aventador, Mercedes SLS Black, the Renault Twin'Run concept, and, erm, our 130mph Honda lawnmower.
