Salica GT news - Sali-vating yet? - 2008
Look familiar? This is the £72,000 Salica GT - a new sports car based on the Noble N400/M12.
The car, according to Salica, continues 'where Noble and TVR left off' although we're not sure if that means 'invisible and bankrupt'. Probably not, say our lawyers.
The soft-top Salica GT is what happened when Noble abandoned their plans to build a convertible M12. Designer Paul Bailey took the drawings to Salica (based in Bath) and the GT was born.
The GT is designed and built in England, has no electronic driver aids (although traction control and ABS are optional) and there's a clever roof that can be detached and stowed under the rear clamshell.
Three versions are available, a GT with a Ford-sourced 500bhp twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6, a loopy 550bhp GTR version and a 460bhp GTC version. Saying that, Salica will build any combo of engine spec, exterior colour and interior trim... so you can have anything you like.
Weighing around a ton, the 500bhp version does 0-60mph in around 3.2 seconds and tops out at 190mph. Hang on, Salica estimates all those figures - but if the power and weight figures are accurate, there's little reason to doubt them.
Sounds like fun
