Toyota is offering new-old parts for the old Supra

We made a promise to ourselves: 2020 was the year we’d stop quoting The Fast & The Furious in relation to any old Toyota Supra news. But Toyota is literally offering OVERNIGHT PARTS FROM JAPAN, and that has broken our resolve.

Seriously. It is. Maybe not overnight, but soon enough. There’s a new heritage division called, coincidentally, the GR Heritage Parts Project. Much like what Nissan is doing with old GT-Rs, Toyota is planning on reissuing certain bits for the old A70 and A80 Supras (that’s the MkIII and MkIV cars).

It’s in order to keep whatever Supras remain on our roads, on our roads for that little bit longer. It’s taking requests for what parts owners would like to see reissued, and currently offers a limited range of things including: propeller shafts, door handles and front emblems for the MkIII, and headlights and brake boosters for the MkIV.

“GR Heritage Parts was set up to reproduce and resell spare parts for old-school Toyota sportcars,” says the company’s website, “ensuring that they can race on for many years to come.”

We suspect none of these parts will turn your old A80 into a, ahem, ten second car, but- oh heck, we’ve done it again. There’s always 2021.
