Say hello to the Ares Design Wami Lalique Spyder

Weird name, retro design and an interior filled with crystals. We’re not kidding

Published: 16 Dec 2020

Welcome world, to the Wami Lalique Spyder. This is the second in Ares’ Legends Reborn series – the first being the De Tomaso Pantera-inspired Panther ProgettoUno. The Wami recalls the roadsters of the 1950s and will be limited to just 12 units in its first production run.

What do we think of the looks? There’s plenty of Maserati A6G/2000 Spyder by Frua in there, as well as hints of C1 Corvette and Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder. The body is apparently crafted from aluminium and carbon fibre, and there’s chromed exhausts, bumpers and wire wheels.

Ares hasn’t said what the Wami is based on (the Panther is a Lamborghini Huracan underneath) but we can obviously see a manual gearbox and the long bonnet suggests a suitably large engine.

The Lalique part of the Wami’s name comes from the French luxury crystal maker which will supply the interior of each car with a heap of shiny rocks. We’re not totally sure why, but each to their own and all that…

Thoughts, Internet?
