This gorgeous Mercedes-Benz SL Pagoda has been completely electrified

One of the very finest automobiles ever designed has been converted to run on electric power by a company famous for converting cars to run on electric power. Everrati has revealed its latest: an electrified Mercedes SL.

Specifically, the Mercedes-Benz SL W113 ‘Pagoda’, so nicknamed because of the shape of its roof. A roof that now, when open – thanks to its newly electric drivetrain – will allow the driver to better hear the noises of adulation from fellow motorists.

Because whatever propels the SL (and you'll likely make your own noise depending on your proclivities), it remains gorgeous. Everrati tells us this particular car has been entirely (re) hand-built and restored to concours standard by Merc specialists Hilton & Moss. With of course, the addition of an electric powertrain.

We’re only told the single electric motor is powered by a 68kWh battery, with an equivalent power output of 300bhp, a range of 200 miles and a 0-60mph time of less than seven seconds. That latter figure entirely irrelevant in a Pagoda, of course.

Everrati’s upgrades are said to be OEM-spec, and the entire philosophy is to “preserve such masterpieces of automotive engineering and design”, which not only function as “rolling art”, but also “legacy products that can also be enjoyed for generations to come”.

Everrati boss Justin Lunny said: “This meticulously restored and redefined car is the ultimate two-seater electric luxury grand tourer, a unique proposition which pays homage to the history of the legendary SL ‘Pagoda’, yet it is fully futureproofed, enabling it to be enjoyed today, and in the hands of the next generation tomorrow.”
