Check out these wonderful pictures of retro Porsches on a South American adventure
New 911 Dakar eat your heart out. Kalmar takes rally-prepped air-cooled 911s and second-gen Cayennes on a mad adventure
Remember Kalmar Automotive? They’re the folk behind the gloriously simple-looking 7-97 Porsche 911 restomod, but they also make the RS-R – a rally-spec 964 with carbon body panels and €100k of suspension. Oh, and founder Jan Kalmar has set up something called Kalmar Beyond Adventure – a sister company that essentially acts as a rallying travel agency for mad off-road Porsche adventures.
The brilliant images above are from the latest adventure, where a group of Kalmar-modified air-cooled 911s and second-generation Cayennes took on the Trans-Andes Rally.
That meant a near 11,000km off-road journey from Lima in Peru to Ushuaia – the southernmost tip of South America – taking in the world’s highest roads, the largest salt pan on the planet and the Atacama Desert. Simple.
Enjoy the pics, Internet…
