Renault Twingo news - Twingo is go - 2007
Cheap and cheerful takes on a whole new meaning with the arrival of the new Renault Twingo.
It's on sale in the UK this autumn and will cost from £8,375 for the Dynamique 1.2 16v 75.
This model is part of Renault's eco2 initiative to create cars with low emissions, and can be easily recycled.
Very worthy, but much more interesting is the GT 1.2 TCE. It packs 100bhp, helping it from 0-62mph in 9.8 seconds and on to 117mph, which should feel plenty rapid in such a dinky car.
The GT will cost from £9,995 and comes with 15-inch alloy wheels, de rigueur rear spoiler and Romford-chic tinted glass.
All of which sounds good, but there's some bad news too. Renault is offering a 'range of exterior decals' for the Twingo, ranging from 'subtle' door handle swirls to 'loud and sporty' stripes.
Or you could plump for the exclusive 'Top Gear Low Cost Option'. For the price of three Ginsters pasties, we'll cover your Twingo in inflammatory statements daubed two-foot high over every panel in luminous paint.
Please, Renault, the Twingo's got plenty of character as it is. We're looking forward to its arrival in the UK in September - but leave the stickers at home.
