Rapper pays $8 million for one-off Maybach

Published: 04 May 2011

Rap shouter and bling enthusiast, Birdman, has just bought himself this one-off Maybach Exelero pictured above. Price? $8 million. Say whaaaaat?

Birdman, or Bryan Williams as his mum prefers, tweeted: ‘They got this new Maybach that I want that costs $8 million, I gotta have it' followed by a picture of it outside a garage a few days later.

It's not actually new, though. It was unveiled at the Tempodrom, Berlin back in 2005 and Maybach has been trying to sell it on ever since.

The chopped-down two-seater coupe's based on a Maybach 57 limo and was commissioned by tyre manufacturer, Fulda, as a test-cum-promo mule.

Underneath the body, which was inspired by the company's streamlined sports car from the Thirties, there's a twin-turbo V12, which heaves the 2.6-tonne fatty from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 218mph.

The rapper, who co-owns aptly named Cash Money Records, is worth over $100 million and already has a Bugatti Veyron and Maybach Landaulet to keep his new/old Exelero company.

Is this what you'd spend $8 million on, TopGear.commers?
