Question of the Week: what’s the best racetrack corner in the world?
A tight hairpin or a fast chicane? An off-camber bend or a fast sweeper? There’s no easy choice here
There are few feelings in life quite like kissing an apex and finding the perfect line, before burying your foot on the throttle and hurtling towards the next corner. Yep, we're talking track driving. Human and machine in perfect harmony - provided you don’t get it all horribly wrong and end up in a gravel trap with egg on your face.
Anyway, this week we want to know which particular corner, or indeed sequence of corners, you think is the very best in the world? Or, if you’re yet to go around said corner in real life, which would you most want to experience?
Perhaps it’s the Nürburgring’s Carousel with its famous concrete banking, or Laguna Seca’s Corkscrew where your internal organs are rearranged thanks to the huge forces experienced upon descent?
Spa Francorchamps’ Eau Rouge is another favourite given the blip in deceleration followed by all-out acceleration required to find the fastest entry and exit. Honourable mentions too for Maggotts and Becketts at Silverstone (of course), 130R at Suzuka and The Parabolica at Autodromo Nazionale di Monza.
What do you think, folks? Drop your suggestions below and expect it to feature in Friday’s results if your argument is strong enough. See you there?
