The Pope news - Nun on the run - 2009

Published: 21 Jul 2009

If you thought Whoopie Goldberg was the wildest nun in the world, think again. That honour goes to an Italian nun known only as ‘AM', who was pulled by cops for doing 112mph last Friday - in a Fiesta that was, presumably, powered by the holy spirit.

Her excuse? She was on her way to see Pope Benedict after he fell and broke his wrist. But the police didn't show any mercy and banned her from driving for a month. The €375 fine was a bit unholy, too.

Undeterred, the nun immediately hired a lawyer, who reckons she'll get a pardon - there's a loophole in Italian law that allows speeding in a ‘state of necessity'.

We reckon it was the Fiesta's fault. A speeding nun deserves a Ferrari, at the very least. That way, she'd have reached his holiness much quicker, and Tubigripped that wrist in no time. Unless, of course, she was being chased by this Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 police car.

Talking of speedy nuns, here's a clip of Sister Wendy driving a monster truck:
