Photo of the day: five Astons meet five stunt planes

Aston Martin delivers its Blades special edition in the most aerobatic way possible

A wee while ago we told you about the five-off Aston Martin V8 Vantage S Blades Edition.

Its breathtakingly long name pays homage to the Blades aerobatics team, which is based at Sywell Autodrome in Northamptonshire. Rather like the Red Arrows, they’re known for eye-popping displays in air show skies. In fact, Blades pilots are former Red Arrows…

The Vantage borrows the Blades paint scheme, with fancy carbon bits highlighted by orange flashes. Seems a minimal change for a £119,950 asking price - over twenty grand more than a standard V8 S - but the five owners got something else thrown in instead.

Yep, rather than picking up their shiny new Aston at the dealer, they went along to Sywell and got to drive their cars on the runway, before heading up to experience stunt-flying with the Blades. The two elements then combined rather nicely for the shot you see above.

Special editions can at times be cynical, but something that combines sports cars and stunt planes is always cool, right?
