Peugeot 308 RC Z news - Peugeot's TT. Yikes - 2008
Peugeot has unveiled a TT rivalling coupe concept - the 308 RC Z.
The, er, challenging looking concept debuts at the Frankfurt motor show in September and is powered by a 218bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine - a development of the 207 GTi's turbocharged motor.
This engine is likely to make it into a hotter 207 model in the future.
Based on the same platform as the upcoming 308 hatch, the RC has a top speed of 146mph and does 0-62mph in 7.0 seconds. There are also larger brakes and extensive use of aluminium.
Inside, the dash is almost identical to the 308 hatch's, while the occasional rear seats can be folded to make a luggage platform.
Peugeot reckons the 308 RC is good enough to take on the Audi TT, so it had better be pretty when we see it in the metal in Frankfurt.
First impressions aren't good though. It looks like a TT that's driven into the back of a 207...
