McLaren Special Ops has already tuned a 600LT
MSO gets its hands on the new 204mph Long Tail, just in time for Pebble Beach
McLaren’s Special Operations department has had its way with the McLaren 600LT. Because it was only a matter of time. The results of this tinkering will be displayed at Pebble Beach in America, for all the world’s brightly coloured trouser and tasselled-loafer enthusiasts to pore over. You and I, however, have to settle for these lovely pictures.
Finished in a special colour McLaren calls Stealth Grey, then tarted-up with matt black and McLaren Orange details, the MSO 600LT is absolutely dripping with carbon fibre. The functional roof scoop is a bespoke, MSO option and features a camera for recording “inspirational moments”. Or embarrassing spins. Lightweight 10-spoke alloy wheels in gloss black complete the exterior, which despite its best-efforts is in no way stealthy. Sorry, McLaren.
Inside there are seats lifted straight from the McLaren Senna with six-point harnesses, much carbon fibre and a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins stereo “for enjoying those drives to the track”. For on track is where you'll want to be to enjoy the 600LT's 2.8sec 0-62mph time and (some of) its 204mph top speed.
The car will make its debut on August 26th on Pebble’s Concept Lawn, which this year will also feature cars from Infiniti, Rimac and Pininfaina. Click on these words for all the latest from the world’s best-known concours event.
