Peugeot RC HyMotion news - Paris motor show - 2008
Peugeot, we have a plea. Make the RC. Now. Don't change it in any way. Not even a bit. It's great.
We're fans of the RC, if you hadn't guessed. A four-door, four-seater, four-wheel drive hybrid (does that make it a 4x4x4x4, then?), the RC is described as 'a working laboratory of many future ideas'. We'd prefer it to be described as 'exactly what the Peugeot 408 is going to look like'.
The RC is an electric-petrol hybrid with a maximum output of 313bhp: a 1.6-litre turbo engine developing 218bhp powers the rear wheels, with a 95bhp electric motor mated to a lithium-ion battery pack dealing with duties up front.
When they're working together, they'll launch the RC to 60mph in a very respectable 4.4 seconds, while emitting just 109g/km of CO2.
Top speed? How's 177mph for you?
There's no word on whether the RC will reach production in any form, which is a pity: we reckon this is just the sort of slick design the Peugeot line-up needs.
As we said, Peugeot, just build it. Don't care what the engine is. Just build it.
