Paris stragglers - Paris motor show news - 2008

We've just had a big, last trawl of the Paris show floor - and when we say a big trawl, we mean big... this place is huge - and we've cobbled together a bunch of the coolest stuff we saw into a one easy-to-digest news story. Good, eh?

First up is the Megane Trophy, a mid-rear-engined racer from Renault based on the new Megane Coupe. Built around a tubular chassis, it's powered by a 3.5-litre V6 putting out 360bhp and will race in next year's Renault World Series. We reckon it looks awesome.

Next up is the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Yes, we've seen it before, but this is the first time we've got up close to it. It looks properly mean - all big and angry and full of carbon fibre. We approve. There's a 3.8-litre V6 under the bonnet, too. We approve even more. There's no word that it'll come to the UK. We approve less.

By way of a change, we thought we'd drop the Bentley Arnage Final Series in here, too. Mainly because, sat right in the middle of the Volkswagen Group Hall amidst Lamborghinis and Golfs and Audis, it looks so darn British. Big and imperious and bally British. It's enough to bring a lump to your throat. Especially when you think it's the end of the Arnage. We demand a 21-gun salute.

Not far from the Arnage is the Seat Ibiza Cupra, a lovely little lump of Spanish turbocharged fun. It'll reach the UK early next year, powered by a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine developing a very respectable 178bhp. If the future's all about small cars, we want them to be like this.

And, to finish off, here's a thing from Lada. Yes, Lada, the Russian guys famous for their Communist-spec Rivas. We have no idea what this thing is - there's no information anywhere on it - but it's happily spinning around in the middle of the Lada stand in stark contrast to the other small, sensible cars around it.
