Paris Motor Show

This might be a new Skoda hot hatch

Vision RS Concept is headed to the Paris show in October

Published: 30 Aug 2018

Welcome to your first glimpse of the Skoda Vision RS Concept, which will be properly revealed at the Paris Motor Show this October. And it looks…promising. Very promising, as a matter of fact. Skoda says it “provide[s] a first glimpse of a future compact car while ringing in the next design phase for its sporting RS model range”. Ergo, a Skoda hot hatch. This is tremendous news, we’re sure you’ll agree.

Skoda tells us the RS is “4,356 millimetres long and 1,810 millimetres wide, with a height of just 1,431 millimetres and a wheelbase of 2,650 millimetres”. That makes it shorter and lower than an Octavia vRS (Skoda’s fast cars are simply called ‘RS’ elsewhere. It’s only in Britain that they add the V), but just about as wide. The design, meanwhile, will incorporate “clear motor racing references”. But what exactly those references will be, we’re not sure.

And that’s pretty much all we know. More information will no doubt be released before, and then at its reveal at the Paris Motor Show. We’ll be there, and will be bringing you all the latest info as we receive it. There’s obviously no guarantee the car you see here will ultimately result in a new Skoda hot hatch, but who’s to say we can’t dream?
