Nissan 370Z news - Zeducation - 2008

It’s turning into a good day for New and Exciting Photos.

Just earlier, we showed you the first-ever proper shot of the Aston One-77 (and if you haven’t pored over it for at least 20 minutes, why not?) and now we’ve got a first look at the all-new Nissan 370Z, the 350Z replacement that’s due to reach the UK next year after its official debut at the Los Angeles show in a couple of weeks’ time.

We approve. Slightly shorter and wider than the 350Z, the 370Z gets a bunch of added sleekness and, we reckon, more than a hint of GT-R about it.

Up front, there’s a deeper grille than before, while the 350Z’s giant power bulge has been smoothed down in favour of a cleaner bonnet design. The fussy door handles are still present and correct, while the rear looks far more rounded and cohesive – in fact, we’re picking up a surprising amount of Porsche 911 about the back end.

Check out those lights, too. There’s an interesting L-kink to the front clusters, while the rear lights have a funky boomerang-thing going on. Very, very cool. The interior is a huge step up on the current Z, too.

Like the One-77, mechanical details are thin on the ground for the 370Z. We know it’ll be powered by Nissan’s new 3.7-litre V6, likely putting out around 340bhp. The 3.5-litre V6 in the 350Z currently develops 309bhp, and that’s hardly underpowered. It’s going to be lairy, in other words.

Transmissions seem likely to include a seven-speed automatic with paddle shifters and a manual option, though it has been mooted that the six-speed twin clutch ‘box from the GT-R could make an appearance.
