New Top Gear magazine: the Jaguar F-Pace's toughest test

Is it an SUV or a sports car? We drive it off road, up a mountain and on track

Published: 20 Apr 2016

In the May issue of Top Gear magazine, we drive perhaps the most significant car in Jaguar’s history, the new F-Pace.

Is it an SUV? Is it a sport car? Will Jaguar be able to deliver its long legacy of ‘grace, space and pace’ in an SUV? To find out, we take the F-Pace for a proper road test, driving it over five days on road, off road and up a mountain, before delivering it into the hands of The Stig to test it on the TG track. You won’t be disappointed!

The new May issue of Top Gear is on sale now in all supermarkets and newsagents. Or you can download the digital edition on your smartphone or tablet

TGTV’s Chris Evans has also had exclusive access to the new Aston Martin DB11. He’s a fan of the brand, but will it live up to expectations?

Meanwhile, fellow presenter and life-long Porsche aficionado Chris Harris takes the new 718 Boxster for a spin. With four cylinders, not six, can it live up to its legendary badge?

If you’re a budding track day goer with £120k burning a hole in your pocket, then we bring you two of the world’s most hardcore cars, the BMW M4 GTS and Lotus 3-Eleven. Don’t worry, we kept The Stig on hand for this one.

After a decade of blood, sweat and tears, we’ve also discovered if the highly anticipated Honda NSX can live up to the hype. We’ve also visited the snow-capped Italian Alps in the Lotus Exige Sport 350, paying homage to James Bond’s For Your Eyes Only.

In this month’s Intake section, we bring you a first look of the new Audi R8 Spyder, find out what happens in a day in the life of Tim Peake and check out the rematch of Audi vs Porsche at Le Mans. We also find out if the Tesla Model 3 is the car of the future, chart the evolution of the Honda Civic Type-R, and visit Latvia to meet the world’s craziest car company, Dartz.

Plus, we’ve driven all the new cars that matter, including a gaggle of posh convertibles in the shape of the Rolls-Royce Dawn, McLaren 675LT Spider, Mercedes S63 AMG cabrio and Ferrari California T Handling Speciale. Time to check those lottery tickets…
