Aston Martin knows how to press our petrolhead buttons, and thus, has tweaked us into a frenzied frequency: this is the Aston Martin AMR-One.
Their new Le Mans challenger for 2011, the new machine is an open-top racer featuring a carbon-fibre chassis and a turbocharged 2.0-litre straight-six engine developing some 540bhp, mated to a six-speed Xtrac ‘box sending power to the rear wheels.
Six AMR-One's will be built, with the factory fielding one for the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup - which includes the Le Mans 24 Hours - and two of them are codenamed 007 and 009. How cool is that?
Darren Turner, Stefan Mucke and another will pilot 007, while Adrian Fernandez, Andy Meyrick and Harold Primat will drive 009.
AM chairman David Richards said: "Just like the road cars, the AMR-One has been elegantly engineered where simplicity runs throughout."
