MS-RT has built a fully bodykitted Ford Transit van

Don’t try and tell us quad-pipes aren’t needed on a building site

Published: 08 May 2019

A handcrafted suede and nappa leather interior, a carbon inlay sports steering wheel, 18-inch OZ Racing alloys and a quad-pipe stainless steel sports exhaust system. A list of basic equipment that, in the past, you’d have expected to be fitted to a sports car - perhaps even a supercar.

Not in these tumultuous times though, because all of that kit will come as standard on the new 'Launch Edition' of the MS-RT Transit Connect. Yep that’s right, Transit as in the van.

Now, we might be a little ashamed to admit it, but we can’t help but think the bodykit and racing wheels combo actually look fantastic on the Transit Connect. Why shouldn’t van drivers have a bit of fun? Okay, the four exhaust pipes might be a bit much – especially given that the MS-RT is still running the 1.5-litre, 118bhp EcoBlue diesel engine from the standard Transit Connect.

What this really needs is an engine swap to befit the styling. Something like, ooooh, we don’t know, maybe the 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 from a Jaguar XJ220? Or has that been done before? Can't remember. How about the 345bhp 2.3-litre four-cylinder from the Focus RS?

Anyway, we’re getting ahead of ourselves. The MS-RT Connect will start at £23,995 with a six-speed manual gearbox. Options will include an auto ‘box, full carbon steering wheel and black exhaust tips. Thoughts?
