The ’Ring : Episode V
Oh god, it's another Nürburgring record. At least, it probably is. This time it's the steroid-pumped Cadillac CTS-V, which has lapped the Nordschliefe in 7m 59.32s.
'This blistering time appears to be the fastest ever publicly documented for a production saloon,' says GM.
We'd like a bit more certainty before they go touting around claims of records and the like, but nonetheless it's an impressive time.
The CTS-V is the muscled-up version of the Cadillac CTS, a rear-wheel-drive monster fitted with a 6.2-litre V8 putting out 550bhp and 550lb ft of torque.
GM says that, bar a fire suppression system, harness bar and six-point seatbelt, the CTS-V was completely stock: in fact, the firm has even made a video of the probably record-breaking lap to prove it.
Watch the CTS-V around the 'Ring
Quick stuff, but was anyone else expecting a bit more fire and brimstone? We swear you can see him tuning the radio at one point... and as for unwrapping that Marks & Spencers sandwich round the Karousel, well, that was just showboating.
We should see the CTS-V in the UK early next year. Tiny Nürburgring bootlid stickers will be an optional extra.
