What a 1978 Renault 4 truly needs: 225bhp

Named ‘Project Old to New’, it's being built by Parisian car modifiers L'Ecurie to compete in the Gumball 3000 rally, which lunges with its usual guffaws and stuffed wallets into Europe from its Covent Garden start line in ten days.

Only thing is, the 225bhp retro cannonball isn't technically finished. Which might be a bit awkward for the event's only French participants, L'Ecurie founder Patrice Meignan and Technical Director Jérémy Taltaud.

You can follow the build here. Reckon they'll get it ready in time?
