Video: watch a top fuel dragster drift in slow motion
An oxymoron this is not. It is however the best footage you’ll see today
Brace yourself. What you’re about to watch could quite possibly be the most beautiful slice of automotive cinematography you’ve ever seen.
It’s footage from the NHRA Kansas Nationals, where dragster pilot Doug Kalitta started drifting (something that’s definitely not meant to happen in this form of motorsport) down the strip in his Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster.
Better than that, it appears to have been filmed in approximately a gazillion frames per second of tear-worthy HD slow-mo. Better even than that, it has visuals worthy of a glitzy gong in Hollywood.
There are flames. There is sideways. There’s unbelievable car control. There are body panels flapping around uncontrollably. Plus a close finish. Truly, what more could you internet types want than PewDiePie driving?
So hit play and watch the effect a planet-spinning amount of torque has on a set of Goodyear drag slicks. And applaud the ballsiness and quick reactions of a man named Doug.
