Video: racing a 440bhp Defender in a hill rally

At the end of this week, the very last Land Rover Defender trundles off the production line at the Solihull plant. This is sad.

So, to brighten things up we thought you might like to watch a film of a Defender taking part in a rally. A Defender equipped with a 440bhp supercharged V6 from a Jaguar F-Type.

And yes, if you think this looks familiar, it’s the film that accompanies the story I wrote about taking part in the Borders Hill Rally in Scotland at the end of last year. Hill rallying is nuts – part normal, recognisable stage rallying, then a sharp turn into a ditch or quarry or river or 1-in-2 cliff for some heavy-duty, diff-locking ‘fun’.
