Video: Mark Webber can't text and drive (but CAN jump a 911 GT3 Cup)

Porsche safety film includes TG's top Aussie racer driving cack-handedly

Published: 12 Nov 2015

Some worthy safety advice from Porsche today, in the shape of the public safety film you see above.

“Even Mark Webber can’t do this,” it says. “That’s why you shouldn't.”

‘This’ does not mean drive a 911 GT3 Cup without wantonly jumping it over kerbs, as the video may suggest, but rather texting while driving.

Here's the conceit: as the Aussie endurance racer hares around the track in his GT3 Cup, he keeps losing control as texts bleep their way in, presumably about shrimps, barbies and losing the rugby world cup final.

The video concludes as a shamed Webber troops towards his angered pitlane, their hands upon their hips like disappointed parents.

OK, so it's not the subtlest of public safety films, but it does show Porsche's track-only monster looking rather lovely. And airborne.

And besides, at least Webber didn’t do this again…
