Video: fire drift

Published: 11 Jun 2013

If you gave Jeremy a camera, bowser of petrol, 800hp Ford Mustang, and a Vaughn Gittin Jr, this is almost certainly what he'd come up with.

It's called Fire Drift, and it's the latest in a distinguished line of superfluous, petrosexual shorts designed to kill time when you should be, y'know, working and stuff.

This imposes certain requirements. Mainly that the car must be mad as a brush. Just like this 2014 Monster Energy Nitto Tire Ford Mustang RTR, which makes 800hp but weighs just 1270kg.

Featured wheel man and drift king, Vaughn Gittin Jr, told TopGear.com, 'I would say about 25% is original. Make no mistake, stock Mustangs are plenty fun and handle a ton of abuse, but at the pro level everything gets fully built to handle the insanity we throw at our machines.

'You need good forward traction and side traction, significant traction is a must contrary to what many believe. You need a limited slip or locker differential so that both tires will spin. About 55 degrees of steering angle at a minimum. A significant usable torque range of about 4000rpm is highly recommend.'

So there you have it. Now watch, then argue about things below.
