Vettel's Infiniti FX confirmed for production

  • Infiniti sponsors Red Bull F1, so a Vettel ‘special edition' Infiniti was inevitable. But why, oh luxury-arm-of-Nissan, did you slap the world champ's name across your lardiest 4x4? Why not the nice little G37?

Sure, this tweaked FX50 has an F1-ish front bumper and big rear wing. Sure, it has 25bhp more than the standard FX50, and a de-restricted 186mph top speed. But, this beast has the F1 heritage of a rhino wearing a HANS device. But at least it's not the worst racing-driver special in history...

  • Subaru celebrated Richard Burns's return to the team in 1999 by producing 444 ‘steel blue' Imprezas. A WR Sport Performance Pack for 237bhp and Prodrive suspension kit made the RB5 Impreza a cast-iron hero among boy racers.

  • Essentially an American NSX-R, this was billed as the ‘best-handling and quickest model ever' from Honda's posh US marque. Only 50 were made, all with lighter wheels and battery, race suspension, single-pane glass and a titanium gearknob. Yes.

  • Touring car ace ‘Smokin' Jo' was honoured with 51 lightweight M5s, shorn of sound-deadening and ‘non-essential' luxury items but gaining a two-tone black/silver paintjob and Recaro seats. Beats having a park bench named after you...

  • Don't let white wheels and a plaque fool you into thinking the actual Séb Loeb had anything to do with the C4 By Loeb. He didn't. There was even a diesel version By Loeb. And a Citroen C2 By Loeb. None of them were ‘By Loeb'. Sorry.

  • The Abarth styling kit, chrome gearstick-surround and Schumi signature on the boot-lid obviously made this limited-edition Seicento really, really fast. Here's hoping Michael got paid enough to suffocate his shame under wads of cash.

  • Formula One legend Alain put his name to this 50cc 'ped after announcing a deal for Peugeot engines in his Prost F1 team in 1998. Still, it came with blue paint, chrome kickplates and red wing mirrors. Which makes it all better. Not.
