Sabine's Frikadelli Racing team have taken a 1-2 win at the Ring
The final rehearsal ahead of June's Nürburgring 24 Hours is a fine tribute
Heart-warming news from the Nürburgring, where the Frikadelli Racing team of Sabine Schmitz and partner Klaus Abbelen have taken a one-two victory in the final rehearsal race ahead of June’s 24 Hours.
Frikadelli are running two of the eight Porsche 911 GT3 Rs tackling this year’s N24, back in its traditional calendar slot after being delayed in 2020 due to Covid.
“That was another great result for the team and excellent preparation for the 24-hour race,” said Fred Makowiecki, one of the four drivers in the winning car. “But now we have a lot of analysing to do because this was the first time we could try all tyre compounds in warm conditions. We also have to keep an eye on our rivals because they came very close – and that promises an interesting fight.”
There’s a wealth of endurance racing talent on the team – as you’d expect – with several Le Mans wins and podiums among them, Brit Nick Tandy among the four drivers in the car which finished second at last weekend’s six-hour VLN race.
“Thanks a lot to the whole team for this unforgettable result,” read a Frikadelli Racing tweet. “This is for you, Sabine!”
