Ooft, Ferrari’s 499P hypercar looks unreal in this new yellow livery
The #83 499P ditches the red ahead of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship
Ferrari has unveiled a third 499P hypercar that will compete in the World Endurance Championship this season, and the big news is that it isn’t red.
Instead, the number 83 499P swaps the Le Mans 24hr-winning colours around for a predominantly yellow livery paired with some neat little red accents. And it looks fantastic. The car will be run by AF Corse throughout the 2024 season and will be driven by Yifei Ye, Robert Shwartzman and one Robert Kubica.
“After winning the FIA WEC LMP2 class in 2023 I am very happy to be able to drive the AF Corse Ferrari 499P this season,” said Kubica.
“I will share the car with Robert and Yifei, two very fast drivers, but it’s going to be very challenging, as the starting grid is very tough. We have everything we need to do well, but we must also recover a lot of ground, since we all have little experience behind the wheel of the 499P. It will be a difficult and demanding challenge, but at the same time it’s all very exciting.
"We will have to try to keep our feet on the ground and do our best. Especially at the beginning of the season it will not be easy, but we will try to maximise track time to gain crucial experience. I am happy to join AF Corse, a team that I have seen racing and winning for many years in many different categories.”
The extremely yellow unveil comes as the FIA released the provisional entry list for the first WEC race of the season in Qatar, with no fewer than 19 top class hypercars set to challenge for overall victory. Roll on 2 March…
