Maserati GranTurismo MC news - GranTreat - 2009
It kept us hanging for a whole six months, teasing us with little snippets of information and a quick glimpse of rubber, but Maserati is finally ready to unleash the production version of its GranTurismo MC Concept.
And, judging by the picture above, it was well worth the wait.
The limited edition, track-spec GranTurismo is apparently aimed at ‘gentleman racers' and designed to compete in the 2010 GT4 European Cup class. It features a full FIA-approved roll cage, carbon fibre body panels, plexiglass windows, upgraded brakes and suspension, along with racing slicks to keep you glued to the track on quick bends.
Power figures are yet to be released, but expect the 4.7-litre V8 to put around 450bhp when the MC takes to the track next year.
The car will go on sale as of October - available direct from Maserati Corse only - and is expected to cost 135,000 euro excluding VAT. We'd call that reasonable.
If that's put you in the mood for another fast Maserati, here's Richard driving the GranSport back in 2005:
