Jenson Button nets £57k in one day
TopGear.com's Monday teaser: Can £57,000 dry the tears of a soon-to-be-former F1 world champ?
Jenson Button - McLaren driver, TG lap-board-er and all round Cool Dude - pretty much lost his chance of repeating his 2009 feat of becoming F1 world champion, thanks to something called 'Korea'.
Still, he can take heart from selling two of his beloved motors at last Friday's H&H auction in Somerset, netting him a tidy £57,000.
His classic, and rather beautiful Honda S600 sold for £40,700, while his comedy 1970 VW Kombi went for over £15k, making the 'Frome-flyer' a tidy sum.
Strange choices for a racing maestro, but don't forget, Jense used to own quite a lot of exciting machinery, including a BMW M5, Audi RS6 and Bugatti Veyron.
Maybe he could spend some of that auction haul on a huggable bear, to hug away his Korean heartbreak?
If you happened to miss the inaugural Korean GP, here's a quick roundup: wet, safety car, more wet, still safety car, slightly wetter, safety car, race starts, CRASH! OVERSTEER! SLIDE! FIRE! EXPLOSION! Then some bloke with expensive thumbs won.
Anyhoo, what should Button spend his money on?
