Jenson Button’s Enzo for sale
Jenson's a car guy. A proper car guy. On these pages alone we've witnessed an old Ford GT and ultra rare-groove Porsche 911 2.7 Carrera RS formerly owned by the 2009 Formula One world champion come up for sale.
Now, here's one to top the bill: Jenson Button's Ferrari Enzo is coming up for auction.
We're informed that Jenson bought his Ferrari Enzo in the same year he won his world championship, which is a fair treat considering that at the end of 2008, he didn't even know if he had a job at all, before announcing a drive in a car many weren't expecting to come good. But boy, did it come good.
The Enzo meanwhile, needs little explanation. A full-fat 6.0-litre V12 mounted in the middle, sending 660bhp and 484lb ft of torque to the rear wheels wrapped up in a carbon monocoque body was the preserve of the very privileged; initially, 349 were slated for production, with invitations going out to existing F40 and F50 owners, all sold before they were actually built. And for good reason too: 0-62mph took just 3.6 seconds, and at full whack it'll hit 217mph.
Following more requests, Ferrari agreed to build 50 more, before a 400th Enzo was built in 2004, and donated to the Vatican for charity. That's Ferrari for you.
And here's another nugget: Jenson bought the car with just 1,180km on the clock. Coys auction house are now offering his Enzo - with Jenson's name still on the V5 registration document - with 1,300km on the clock. In three years then, Mr Button has clocked up just 120km - or 75 miles.
As expected, it comes with full Ferrari service history, the ‘Classiche Certification', and is expected to sell for between £850,000 to just under one million. Click here for the link, and then tell us below which car of Jenson's you'd most like to drive. For us, it'd have to be his company car, the MP4-27...
