ICYMI: this is Adrian Newey's idea of a hypercar

With news of an Aston/RB HyperThing in the works, remind yourself of his X2014 loon

Big news this morning, with Aston Martin announcing a partnership with Red Bull Racing's Adrian Newey to build a hypercar. One with enough downforce and power to go faster around Silverstone than a Formula One car.

It promises amazingness. But we've got a while to wait, as the car won't land until at least 2018, and there are literally no pictures or significant details about it yet. So let's remind ourselves of what Adrian Newey - the brains behind Red Bull's former F1 success - is capable of when let off the leash.

It's a video comparing his X2014 RB racing car designed for Gran Turismo - the 'standard' one - against the X2014 'fan' car. They are both amazing.

On an interesting aside, while at Nissan, Andy Palmer wanted to task Newey with creating an Infiniti hypercar. Now he's boss of Aston Martin... he has tasked Newey with building an Aston hypercar. It's happening, Internet...
