Here’s a scrappage scheme you might like

Trade in your knackered old toy car, get a shiny new one. Winner

Scrappage is, once again, the industry’s buzzword. Schemes which will boost UK car sales and get some efficient new cars on the roads will probably also see lots of cool old performance cars consigned to the crusher.

But not every scrappage scheme resembles the devil in disguise. Let us present Falken’s. The tyre maker is asking for you to take a picture of your most skirting board-bashed, dirt-ridden toy car and then post it on the Falken Twitter or Facebook pages.

Falken will then pick its 20 favourites (or the 20 saddest, perhaps) and replace them with a shiny new Falken-branded toy, much like those pictured above. “Unlike some of the more ‘harsh’ scrappage schemes, Falken plans to sensitively rehome the received cars with a local charity,” the company says.
