Formula Woman is back for 2021

The female-only racing competition and TV show is back after a 14-year hiatus

Published: 09 Mar 2021

Formula Woman was a race series that launched in the UK way back in 2003/04, with the intention of getting more female drivers into a male-dominated sport. Its first season was a televised competition and it continued until 2007, when it was quietly curtailed.

Now though, the Formula Woman competition and its accompanying TV show are back for 2021.

Applications will open soon and ‘after a series of online assessments’ the 16 finalists will go through televised on-track tests, with a final at the end of February 2022. This time around, the winners will receive entry into the 2022 GT Cup Championship with McLaren’s customer racing department providing two 570S GT4s.

Those on-track assessments will also be backed by a manufacturer. Back in the first ever Formula Woman series Mazda RX-8s were used, but we’ll have to wait to find out who’ll be supporting the competition in 2021/22.
