Ford is taking a wild Mustang Mach-E to Pikes Peak
A return to the mountain is on the cards for Ford, and there’s a bonkers new car for Romain Dumas to play with
With a short and sharp six-line press release, Ford has confirmed that it is heading back to Pikes Peak for the 2025 race to the clouds.
Frenchman Romain Dumas will be back too after his victory in the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck last year and his second place in the SuperVan 4.2 in 2023. He still holds the overall record time too remember, with a 7m 57.148s run in the Volkswagen ID.R in 2018.
So, what will he get to play with this year? A “new, Mustang Mach-E derived Electric Vehicle Demonstrator”, apparently, and we can see from the shadowy image above that it’s set to get a quite ridiculous bodykit. Yeah, that’s just one of the reasons why we love Pikes Peak.
Of course, Ford has already built a ludicrous Mustang Mach-E. Back in 2020 it unveiled the 1,400bhp all-wheel drive Mustang Mach-E 1400, and we even brought it along to our Speed Week. And yet, the bewinged F-150 Lightning SuperTruck that Dumas drove up the mountain last year had over 1,600bhp, so we’d expect this Mach-E to take things up a notch.
Reckon Ford and Dumas can make it back-to-back victories?
