This Ford Focus has an 800bhp Nissan GT-R engine
And it’s set to compete at this year’s Pikes Peak Hillclimb
Ok, so this thing isn’t strictly a Ford Focus. The only bits it shares with one of those are the A/B-pillars and windscreen. The rest is totally bespoke, as you might have guessed.
It was built a couple of years ago by Aussie company Pace Innovations for a chap called Tony Quinn, and has since raced at Pikes Peak where, last year, it finished fifth in the unlimited class. This year, it’s back.
The engine is the 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 from the Nissan GT-R (with either 800 or 850bhp, Pace and the uploader of this video disagree), driving all four wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission. Carbon fibre body panels (and the custom tubular chassis) means it weighs less than a tonne, but supposedly produces as much again in downforce at 124mph. Sticky.
The video above comes courtesy of High Performance Academy, which says it’s been fettling the Focus ahead of Pikes Peak next month. Looks fast, no?
