Ferrari California news - Video: California beachin' - 2009

As Ferrari chairman, what could be more pleasant than a gentle drive around the Valencia race track in a shiny red California, with your two F1 drivers perched happily on the back?
 
A chance for you – Luca di Montezemolo, for that is who you are – to show off Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa to the adoring crowds at the Ferrari world finals. What could possibly go wrong?
 
The video you are about to watch, we must warn you, is not that most dramatic you will see this week. Certainly not as spectacular as that Finnish rally crash compilation. It is, however, one of the most inexplicable.
 
What, exactly, did Big Luca expect to happen as he piloted the California across the gravel trap? Does he believe he can now defy the laws of physics?
 
A couple of points. Firstly, note how much quicker Massa is than Alonso to jump down and try to push the stricken Ferrari free.
 
Secondly, and far more importantly, what the hell is going on with Alonso’s sweater?
