Dacia Duster Pikes Peak racer revealed

Published: 29 May 2011

Good news! Dacia has decided to enter the famous Pikes Peak international hill climb with that angry Romanian brute you see above; a one-off rally-machine as daft as the brush it is named after.

Purpose built by Tork Engineering, Sodemo and Renaultsport, the Dacia Duster ‘No Limit' gets a Nissan GT-R 3.8-litre twin-turbo engine developing 850hp, and is mated to a sequential six-speeder ‘specially developed to cope with so much power'. So made from unobtanium and iron, probably.

Dacia tells us the aerodynamic package fitted to the ‘No Limit' is ‘rarely authorised in motorsport', which makes us afraid. Will it eat spectators as it powers up the hill?

Three-time Trophee Andros winner Jean-Phillipe Dayraut will pilot the extreme machine at Pikes next month in the ‘Unlimited class' on 26 June in Colorado. We expect seismic shifts to occur on that day. Or another volcanic eruption. Click through for more pics.
