The Daytona 24 Hours will be resplendent in retro colours. Here's Porsche's effort
Like retro race liveries? You need to watch this weekend’s Daytona 24 Hours. Marking 50 years of IMSA will be a grid resplendent in cars whose colours nod sagely to the past. Following this rather wonderful pair of Ford GTs comes a pair of Porsche 911s.
These 911 RSRs are wearing the colours of Brumos Racing, an outfit that brought success to the Porsche name throughout the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s, achieving 15 titles and 48 race wins in IMSA.
This new take on the livery riffs off the number 59, thanks to 41 of those 48 victories coming in a number 59 car. “No matter if we competed in Porsche sports cars or Daytona Prototypes with Porsche engines, Brumos was always one of the premier teams,” says Hurley Haywood, who won Daytona in 1973 and 1975 in Brumos-coloured cars.
This, or last year’s Pink Pig homage?
