The BMW M4 GT3 has shown its face at the Nürburgring

Is the latest M4 actually too subtle for you? BMW has an answer

Published: 11 May 2021

Hands up if you find the latest BMW M3 and M4 are actually a touch too subtle for you. We don’t see many hands. Those sheepishly sticking their mitts up at the back, though? Let’s hope you have a racing licence. Because the solution is here.

This is the BMW M4 GT3. It was previewed last year alongside the camo-clad road car but has now made what BMW has called a ‘confident appearance’ around – where else? – the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Sure, ‘confident appearance’ is probably how the M4 would tactfully describe itself on a Tinder profile, but perhaps its big-toothed face is better accommodated by a wild racecar costume. And a situation where huge gaping intakes are useful and an enormous rear wing ensures the whole thing looks like a caricature anyway.

“My initial feedback is that the BMW M4 GT3 has retained the strengths of its predecessor on the Nordschleife, while eradicating its weaknesses,” says BMW works driver Jens Klingmann.

“Of course, it’s not possible to transfer that 1:1 to other circuits from such a special track, but as a driver you feel right at home from the word go in the BMW M4 GT3. It is not unpredictable, but it’s fast nonetheless. It was really great fun.”

The M4 GT3 will make its public debut at the Nürburgring 24 Hours in June. Reckon it wears the motorsport look well?
