Renders released of next year’s racer, designed to rekindle IndyCars of past
Woah, what’s that?
With all the buzz around IndyCar at the moment, helped in no small part by a certain double Formula One world champion running in this weekend’s Indy 500, the organisation has released a few new renders of what next year’s cars will look like.
And you’ll agree, they look quite cool.

Well, they’re just concept pics for now, but we’re told the pics give “more definition” to the universal bodywork that all competitors will fit to the 2018 Dallara IR-12 chassis.
Is it just me, or is there a touch of retro-ness in there?
Ah, a fan of IndyCar history are we? Yes, apparently this universal bodywork has been “reverse-designed” in order to start with the look of IndyCar favourites from the past.

Naturally. IndyCar assure us the kit will incorporate all of the latest tech and safety advancements a 230mph speedway racer requires.
When can I see it?
Next year proper, but testing will begin this summer. And as with the Chevy and Honda aero kits provided for this year, 2018’s IndyCar kit will come in two configurations: a super-speedway version for oval courses, and another for street, road and short oval courses.
