This tuned Mercedes G63 has a troubling 927bhp

You don’t need to have a comprehensive understanding of Greek mythology to know that Poseidon was an angry, powerful bloke. According to his LinkedIn, he’s god of the sea, earthquakes, storms, and… erm, horses. But he’s also considered one of the most bad-tempered, moody and greedy Olympian gods. Sounds like a great name for a car tuner who likes to make powerful, bad-tempered and moody cars, right?

And lo, German Mercedes aftermarket specialist Posaidon (see what it did there?) has made a very powerful Mercedes G63, and put its famous oversized fork logo all over it, just so everyone's clear. Using the already overpowered Mercedes G63, it rolled up its sleeves and managed to unlock a further 350bhp - that's right, an entire hot hatch more - out of the 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8, taking the total to 927bhp and 943lb ft of torque. How? With a pair of larger custom turbochargers, as well as newly ported cylinder heads, improved valve seats, a new exhaust system, and scant regard for societal norms.

That’s not all though. To get those near-Veyron troubling power numbers also required a little bit of chemistry: a water/methanol injection system in the boot to give extra boost pressure. Then there are those flared ram-air intakes up front, new carbon-ceramic brakes, a gearbox tweak, LED lights and a bull bar to help move people out the way when you hit the 174 mph electronically limited top speed.
